Abstract
Investment attraction becomes one of the central themes of the strategy of economic development in order to negotiate the Free Trade Agreement with the United States. In this context, Cartagena de Indias, and more specifically Mamonal Industrial Zone, given the conditions of its factors, is projected as a major player in the country's economic dynamics. That is why today there are several projects underway in the area in order to pave the way to compete in a market of more than 300 million people.
Given this dynamic, many investments are developed here are supported on flows of foreign direct investment - FDI -, likewise, likewise from National Capital.
Despite this, there is a stream of economists who argue that FDI could have a negative impact on the economy of a region, for that reason, this paper seeks to answer the question To what extent the long-term investment that has been presented in the Industrial Zone Mamonal sustainable growth opportunities for the City of Cartagena de Indias?
