Abstract

Objectives: To assess the test-retest reliability, internal consistency, concurrent, construct and convergent validity of the Bengali translated IIQ-7 and SF-36.

Study Design: Correlation design.

Background: There is currently no validity or reliability studies for the Bengali translated Incontinence Impact Questionnaire (IIQ-7) and Short Form-36 (SF-36) for use in Bangladeshi postpartum population.

Methods and Measures: Data comparisons of two groups between the ages of 18-54. Group 1 (n=20): subjects with previous history of childbirth and history of urinary incontinence; Group 2 (n=20): between ages of 18-54, no history of previous childbirth who completed the Bengali translated SF-36 and IIQ-7.

Results: Test-retest reliability (ICC=.94-1.0) and internal consistency of both IIQ-7 and SF-36 (Cronbach’s alpha=.94-.99) were good. Both tests demonstrated good convergent, construct, and concurrent validity.

Conclusion: The Bengali translated SF-36 and IIQ-7 demonstrated good test-retest reliability, internal consistency, construct, concurrent, and convergent validity for utilization in Bangladeshi postpartum population.
