Determinants for Exchange Derivatives Trading in Botswana

Abstract

This research explored the demanding factors of initiating an exchange derivatives trading in Botswana. For this reason, it espoused the contribution of the various industries in Botswana fuelling economic development and stability. Further, the prospects and downfalls of major industries such as mining and agriculture were studied. The current stock exchange activities, the volumes of trade carried on in the exchange and the number of participants in the exchange were similarly of significance in this research. For the purpose of the study, the Botswana Stock Exchange was consequential as the source of quantitative data relating to trading statistics for stock, currency and commodities. In addition, various other scholarly journals, books and web databases were brought in use to gather sufficient relevant information. The research thus comes out with a report in favour of getting started with exchange derivatives trading in Botswana.
