Abstract

Throughout the ages, we have identified two powerful forces that affect our entire being. These are music and silence. Silence is not the polar opposite of music, however, and in fact, both of these forces are deeply interconnected and fund each other. Silence is itself a form of music, and there can be no music without silence. Although silence has proven itself to be associated with many contemplative practices (from yoga to meditation), this is an examination of music's power to express its meditative powers through our ontological faculties and can give rise to a higher awakened consciousness.
