Abstract
Recently, many urban policies have adopted a proactive stance towards tourism and recreational activity, which is seen increasingly as a strategic sector for urban regeneration in certain areas of the city. This article proposes a reflection on tourism and recreational activities as a tool for local development. Bahía Blanca is an intermediate urban center with regional preponderance, which seeks to insert itself between the cities that aim to promote urban tourism activities. There are several actions taken in this regard; emphasizing on one hand, various projects and urban plans that have been developed, as well as, social impacts and urban renewal that they might have propelled. This article raises concern about current urban transformations and how they are linked to a territorial revitalization, taking into account tourism activities.
