Abstract

Present wildlife conservation concerns are of worldwide origin. The scope of concern has been extended from that of game animals to those of ecological and aesthetic interests. Although we try to keep this worldwide perspective in this paper, we also believe that Africa, in particular East Africa, where the authors have some first-hand knowledge, provides modern day conservationists with the clearest and most pressing test of their ideas and programs.
