Emotional Intelligence and Students’ Academic Performance: A Study Conducted in Pakistan and Afghanistan

Abstract
Nowadays, life has become challenging at social, professional and academic levels. We are to explore new ways to deal with these challenges. This study investigates the relationship between emotional intelligence and students’ academic performance. Nationality and gender are considered as factors for measuring the difference of emotional intelligence. For this study, a convenient sample of 293 students of management sciences was drawn from different universities of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Pearson correlation and t-test were used to analyze the gathered data. The results could not link emotional intelligence with academic performance of students, while a positive relationship was found between emotional intelligence and age of the students. Moreover, the research could not find any difference of emotional intelligence across nationality and gender of the students.
