Abstract
In 2011, Dean María Pabón López came to the Loyola University New Orleans College of Law as both the first woman to be selected as dean at a Louisiana law school and as one of only a few Latinas to be a dean at any U.S. law school. This article provides a history of Loyola’s law school and traces Dean Lopez’s life story to demonstrate how her diverse background and experience, her commitment to public service, and her personal commitment to the Roman Catholic faith made her the top choice to be Loyola’s new Dean of the College of Law.
