Abstract
In Catholic parishes across the nation “social concerns” or “social justice” committees are trying to help individuals bring Church teaching into their daily lives. The broad aim of Catholic teaching on social justice is clear: Catholics are called upon to work for a society that respects the dignity of all people. The specific way to achieve such a society, however, is less certain. Too often political matters on which serious intelligent Catholics can disagree are made the subject of popular social justice movements.
