Abstract

The paper discusses the origins of the Jewish Wedding Canopy (Chupah) using traditional Jewish sources and compares the form and history to that of the Baldachins used by heads of state, proposing that the Chupah, in its current format, takes its design from the design used in Palaces and in royal processions.
