Abstract

Investor protection entails the safeguarding of the investors from the unscrupulous elements in the market. This entails investor education as well. The project first discusses the meaning and scope of investor protection. Secondly, the investor protection mechanism in the Philippines is discussed. In doing so the role played by the 'Securities and Exchange Commission' along with the 'Investor Protection and Surveillance Department of the Philippines' is highlighted. Further, a relative understanding of the Philippines system with that of other Asian-Pacific nations is also delved into. Lastly this project lists out the benefits and impact the investor protection framework has had overall.
