Abstract
Jersey is one of the Channel islands, situated between France and England. It is made of granite which is the traditional building material and the source of its rich productive soils. Traditional agriculture on Jersey was based on organic and sustainable practices such as using vraic (seaweed) fertiliser and the breeding of Jersey cattle. Jersey also has beautiful gardens. Judith Quérée's Garden and the gardens at the 1000 year old Samarès Manor Estate are examined.
