Abstract

In the current paper, the validity of web-based surveys was examined. An online questionnaire was sent to members of tourism research and travel-related virtual communities. The results showed extremely low opening and response rates, leading to biased samples. Several possible explanations for the results as well as practical recommendations were given for implementation of web-based surveys.
