Abstract
This short academic note explores media interpretations of a recent interim order of the National Green Tribunal in India, in light of legal rights of residents and prevailing doctrines of legitimate expectation and promissory estoppel. The note then concludes with suggestions for obtaining clarifications on the subject for maintaining harmony in interpretation of the Tribunal’s interim orders with these extant legal rights and doctrinal assumptions.
