Abstract

Education is the source by which transformation of knowledge and learning takes place. It can lead to betterment of one’s life. Education and knowledge are complementary and considered as ever lasting learning process of life, this will leads to the social development of human being in such a manner that they can establish new pages of history through their applied knowledge potential. Besides, the individual benefits of education, it has positive spillovers therefore the whole economy and society is being benefited from a rise in human capital through learning.

In present scenario all the activities has taken a lots of dramatic changes along with the changing environment of economy, advancement in technology and individual’s preferences/perceptions. This not only effects the economic growth but also affects all the aspects of the social and personal life. Our education system is also not untouched from these changes, as we could see in today’s universities are transforming their self from traditional educational provider to professional education provider. Among professional courses, management education has good reputation in the society, as management is applicable every where even in daily life. Today every university and its affiliated colleges are providing management education from last 5 to 6 decades.

This research paper is an attempt to study the qualitative aspects of factors which are influencing the management education in India. The categorization of factors is to be done by considering the Macro environment of the country such as Political environment (P), Economical environment (E), Social environment (S), Technological environment (T), Legal/Regulatory environment (L), Geographical environment (G) and Academic environment (A) (PESTL-GA). Any system existed in the country are compelled to survive under the influence of Macro environment. The importance of macro environment can not be overlooked, so I have tried to classify the factors by considering macro environmental challenges.

The objective of the research paper is to study and categorize the factors by considering their qualitative features, which influences the performance of management education in India.
