Abstract

One of the biggest family law stories of the summer of 2015 — other than Obergefell and the resolution of the constitutionality of same-sex marriage, of course — was the hack on Ashley Madison, an online dating site for married people seeking extramarital affairs. The hack resulted in the revelation of the details of over 30 million users of the site. The media soon turned its attention to matrimonial lawyers, who speculated about the consequences of the hack in terms of divorce. However, perhaps there might not be too many consequences after all, particularly when compared to historical family law.
