Abstract
The paper deals with the results and position of the manufacturing industry in Serbia in the years 2005 to 2007. There were analyzed manufacturing industry’s results in general, as the position of this branch in Serbian economy as a whole. This position was illustrated by the share in number of enterprises, employees, revenue, net profit, capital and total assets. In further, it was given the output and sector structure within branch, and basic financial indicators and productivity. The analysis ends with export and imports of manufacturing industry’s products. In general, industrial output of the manufacturing industry has still not reached even 50% of the registered in late 1990s, that was, on the other side, went down during this decade, as a consequence of the transition shock, wars in former Yugoslavia, and sanctions of the UN Security Council. And, at the end, the short-lived recovery in the second half of 1990s was annulled following the bombing in 1999, when the industrial output went down by almost one quarter. The recovery, followed in 2000s, was sluggish, because the most of enterprises lost their market, and the general circumstances for business operation for the Serbian enterprises become more difficult.
