Abstract
This article explores the adverse possession doctrine and the substantial revisions to statutory provisions in New York that govern acquisition of title to real property by adverse possession. It explores in detail the adversity requirement and New York’s rejection of hostile possession as an accepted form of adversity. It also explores New York’s modification of the statutory standards governing the actual possession requirement.
