Abstract

Resolving the problem of scares resources poses challenges for management of organizations. Most especially where there is a need for allocation of staff to jobs, buses to routes, and other similar managerial decision making. The technique available in assignment model is handily and apt in this kind of situation and it is a model that can be used to solve the traditional one to one assignment problem of assigning employees to jobs, employees to machines, machines to jobs, etc. The study therefore set to investigate how best four teams of consultants of OGE Professional Services could be assigned to four client locations within south-west states of Nigeria. Two alternative solutions of assignments were provided and they both result in the consultants traveling a minimum total distance of 450 miles. The management of OGE Professional Services is advised to take into consideration either of the alternative so as to reduce distance to be covered and the associated cost.
