Why Bother with Black History Month?

Abstract

The US has repealed slavery, passed the Civil Rights Act and elected a black man to the US Presidency. Do we really need Black History Month? Hasn’t the US evolved to the point that Black history is synonymous with US history?

Not by a mile.
