Abstract
This article examines the ubiquity of the theme of a Nazi victory in World War II within alternate history fiction, and explains it in terms of popular understanding of the conflict. In particular the article argues that the war's familiarity, course and associations lend themselves uniquely well to use by writers of popular fiction.
