Abstract

Psychological impetus has been attached to criminal behaviour by various researchers from time to time who treated human behavior as a whole with criminal orientation. It has always been hard to discriminate a criminal type from normal personality but studies have revealed basically on Eysenck Personality Questionnaire that criminals score significantly high on Psychoticism and Neuroticism scale and low on the lie score unlike that of the control group of non criminals. Eyesenck (1976) described the criminals to be on Psychopathic gradient, i.e., they showed high Neuroticism Extroversion and Psychoticism low on Social Desirability (SD). As far as Neuroticism and Social Desirability are concerned, there is a general agreement among other researchers, but no uniform results are seen.
