Abstract
Political scientist Daniel Lev's foundational scholarship on development of the Indonesian legal system not only applied a grounded approach to studying judicial culture but also highlighted two other elements of his work that continue to influence generations of scholars who follow, applying lessons about political change distilled from European and global comparative history and an admiration for those committed to rights and democratic reform. This brief conclusion to a volume edited by Melissa Crouch illustrates these points with references to the work and life of Lev and to other essays in the volume.
