Abstract

Construction sector affects the economy of our nation to a greater extent. Hence, it is very important to take into consideration the various aspects influencing the smooth execution of construction projects all over the country. Labour productivity is one such important parameter that greatly affects the progress of a particular construction project as it accounts for almost 30-50% of the project cost. Optimization is the action of making the best use of a situation or resource. Questionnaire survey was conducted to obtain data regarding labour productivity in elevated corridor metro construction site. Various factors affecting labour productivity were taken into consideration in the questionnaire. Relative Importance Index (RII) was used to analyse the data obtained from questionnaire survey. Based on results of the analysis, the various factors affecting labour productivity were ranked according to priority. The research outcome aims to contribute towards the labour productivity improvement in the Indian elevated corridor metro construction projects for faster delivery of projects with minimum time and maximum quality.
