Abstract

One of the relevant issues with regard to artificial intelligence (AI), in addition to the possibility of its recognition as a subject of law, is the usage of machines with AI in crime fighting. As the experience of foreign countries indicates, this seems quite real. This article provides examples of AI systems that allow to simplify the activity of competent authorities in uncovering and preventing crimes in such countries as Russia, USA and Great Britain. Such systems as COMPAS, Predpol, iVe and others are considered, as well as software allowing to work more effectively with statistical data and to prevent crimes in different areas based on it. The author comes to the conclusion that at this stage of digital forensics development, the result of inventions made by various companies is not very noticeable and the algorithms of many systems require improvement and refinement. There are many demonstration variants of AI systems, the reliability and efficiency of which has yet to be determined. However, given the progress of science, including the development of artificial intelligence, in the near future society will have the opportunity to allow technology to help competent authorities and individuals fight against crime.
