Abstract

Dimitry Kochenov and Justin Lindeboom's "Quality of Nationality Index" (QNI) is a unique ranking of world nationalities, in that the methodology used takes into account not only the quality of the country of nationality but also of the number of countries in which a national of this country can settle and their own quality as well. In this edition, French nationality has been ranked the “best” nationality in the world, mostly due to its overseas territories. I explain why and also provide an overview of what rules about acquisition and loss of French nationality reveal about French History, including the recent one.
