Abstract

In Thompson v. People (September 2020), the Colorado Supreme Court reversed precedent when it determined to apply the family resemblance test developed by the U.S. Supreme Court in Reves v. Ernst & Young when determining whether a promissory note is a security under Colorado law and therefore subject to the Colorado Securities Act.
