Abstract

This chapter aims to provide researchers and professionals with an exploratory cartography of the emerging thematic clusters in the relationship between Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies, research in media and journalism, and professional practice. A thematic analysis of the research articles published between 2015 and 2020 is carried out in the twenty most highly rated international scientific journals in the Communication subcategory (N = 41). This exam results in the presentation of a chronological mapping of the main research themes in the articulation between AI technologies and journalism, framed by a contextual presentation of sociotechnical projections elaborated on this emerging technology.
