Abstract
On March 26, 2021, Professor Zachary D. Kaufman chaired the American Society of International Law’s Human Rights Interest Group’s roundtable, “Black Lives Matter and International Human Rights Law: The Challenge of Systemic Racism.”
The roundtable had two objectives. First, it drew on diverse social science research to explore the origin and operation of systemic racism in the United States that gave rise to the Black Lives Matter movement. Second, the roundtable analyzed how international human rights law obligated states to address these systemic problems.
Professor Kaufman’s and other speakers’ remarks were published in the American Society of International Law Proceedings.
