Serious human rights abuses and environmental issues are associated with some Canadian mines in Latin America. This article updates two previous articles on Canadian mining in Guatemala. It describes the results of two attempts to raise the human rights issues in Canadian courts. This article should be read in conjunction with Breaching Indigenous Law (2007) and Goldcorp and Hudbay in Guatemala (2010).
