Abstract

In the A case (UVA-OB-0711), Bill Johnson takes over as manager of a new joint venture in Shanghai. The antecedent organization was poor and the reputation of Otis in the market is at stake. Johnson has little experience and faces severe challenges. The B case describes the actions he takes.
