Abstract

In this paper, I highlight funding as a key issue in managing higher education organizations and argue that funding higher education should be the responsibility of governments. Colleges and universities should not be left alone in the commercialized rough ocean of higher education, and they should not leave their natural government home and become an industrial homeless. The paper is divided into five sections. In the first section, I present the rationale to address funding in higher education. In the second section, I review related literature. In the third section, I address funding with the ideology of a government. In the fourth section, I analyze higher education as a business. The fifth section of the paper is devoted to analysis and discussion of funding complexities in higher education and their associated consequences.
