Intellectual Property Office (IPO) Research Paper Series

The Intellectual Property Office (IPO) was set up in 1852 to act as the United Kingdom's (UK) sole office for the granting of patents. The IPO is the official government body responsible for Intellectual Property (IP) rights in the UK. These rights include: Patents, Designs, Trademarks, Copyright. The IPO promotes innovation by providing a clear, accessible and widely understood IP system, which enables the economy and society to benefit from knowledge and ideas.

In recent years the IPO has worked with academia and industry to help develop the economic evidence base and forge relationships in the intellectual property research community, nationally and internationally. The Patent Informatics (PI) and Economics, Research and Evidence (ERE) teams carry out bespoke investigations about inventors, companies, and all fields of technology. A full list of new reports and research is available on the IPO's website, and will also be available on SSRN http://ssrn.com/link/IPO-RES.html.
