“  As part of my study of the early legal history of obscenity, libel and copyright, I have diverted to an examination of the degree to which satirical prints were discretely vulnerable to libel prosecution in the Long Eighteenth Century, focusing particularly on Thomas Rowlandson frontispieces to satirical verses of John Wolcot ('Peter Pindar'), one of which was substantively debated in hearings at King's Bench and subsequently exhibited for libel but never prosecuted.  ”
