“  ETHICS OF MOTHERS IN PRISON: In the United States women inmates represent the fastest growing segment of the prison population, while mothers are the largest segment of this population. Mothers in prison result in a disruption of the family relationship with the children of female inmates more likely to become inmates during their lifetime. This paper advocates for a repeal of mandatory sentencing guidelines for non-violent, non-career offenders in favour of a public health approach of community-based rehabilitation to preserve the mother-child relationship. ETHICS OF INTL' PHARMACEUTICAL RESEARCH: International drug research is often conducted in the developing world where many of the diseases under study are endemic, such as Africa and Asia. Given that most pharmaceutical concerns that engage in such research are based in industrial nations such as the United States and Western Europe, an ethical debate has arisen as to what the standard of care must be for local research.  ”
