1) "A Mathematics of Morality for Utopian Economics" An attempt to define with game-theoretic methods conventional morality. A "morality" with values in the interval [-1, 1] can be described for each strategy that applies to a social dilemma. '1' is associated with conventionally moral strategies, '0' with anti-moral strategies, and '-1' with retaliatory strategies. 2) A modern revision of Herbert Simon's "The Architecture of Complexity". This essay incorporates results from deep learning and neuroscience to speculate that the natural world arises in the way that Simon described. The consequences, if his hypothesis is true, would be significant for science, and in particular, lead to the beginnings of a theory for deep learning methods.
