I'm currently working on two articles: 1. A look at two attempts in the late 2000s dealing with Colorado's unique union shop provision (requiring a separate worker vote). One of these was a legislative amendment urged by labor, the other, a state constitution ballot initiative urged by management. Both of these attempts imploded. I explain why and suggest some actions for labor. 2. An article analyzing the landscape involving college athletes as employees after the Supreme Court's decision in Alston, particularly the viability of a collective bargaining approach and looking in depth at bargaining unit issues.
