“  This is a study of perspectives of third-party risk management (TPRM) practitioners in the United States information technology industry resulted in clarity to the factors that significantly shape vendor risk profiles and risk classifications such as data privacy, cybersecurity maturity, financial stability, and regulatory obligations in TPRM practices. This executive summary includes the project’s business problem and practice gap, purpose, method, participant population, results, and implications.Problem. The problem underpinning this capstone project was that organizations face increased risk when working with third-party vendors, which include data breaches and compliance violations because of missing or ineffective third-party risk management (TPRM) processes. The gap in practice was reflected by the lack of a systematic approach to vendor risk classification by TPRM practitioners in the United States information technology industry.  ”
