Abstract

The article addresses the determination of parenthood of a child born to two women who joined forces: one provided the ovum, thereby contributing to the child's genetic makeup, and the other carried the pregnancy to term and gave birth. While in some cases this procedure may be employed for medical reasons, the article focuses on a case the shared effort was embarked upon as an act of intimate partnership, with the intention of jointly raising the child. The article focuses on the regulation of the matter in the Israeli system, thereby offering a unique opportunity to study the intricacies of that system and at the same time engages in non-jurisdiction-specific normative analysis.
