The evolution of tourism worldwide shows that this field represents one of the main sources of national economy recovery in all the countries that have important touristic resources.
One of the countries with a diverse and rich touristic potential, Romania, has not managed to capitalize it according to its true value. The period following 1990 is characterized by a relatively low internal and international touristic circulation and an insignificant amount of income, especially as foreign currency as compared to all other recipient countries from the same geographical area.
In order to trace out the possibilities of tourism recovery and identify coherent strategies leading to the reinvigoration of this field, one has to take into account the studies carried out both regionally and nationally, making it possible to identify malfunction in tourism.
In this context, the touristic demand in Romania and, implicitly, in the district of Suceava, is highly influenced by the changes within the Romanian society in the past 18 years. The economic reorganization, the effort of passing from a centralized system towards a system based on the rules of market economy, the specific costs of such a transition have sometimes uncontrollable effects on the social and economic mechanisms.
