Abstract

This paper examines the relation of the concept of space to the individual conception in economics. It argues the neoclassical conception is tied to Euclidian space, and that a evolutionary-complexity-computational conception requires a non-Euclidian understanding of space. The paper characterizes the latter individual conception as that of complex individuals, distinguishes it from Jason Potts' 'neo-Euclidian' individual conception, relates it to Philip Mirowski's markomata understanding of markets, and suggests individual diversity as a goal of social economic policy.
