Abstract

Those toiling in law offices are familiar with the language called "Legalese." Dialog in the typical law office is peppered with terms such as voir dire, pro bono, and res ipsa loquitur. Law professionals are as comfortable with this language as they are with the King's English.

Being merely "bilingual," however, no longer suffices. As technology and the information age exert influence on the practice of law, those in the legal field now must cope with another language-one based on ones and zeros, called "Binary."

Keywords: law, technology, computers, discovery, retrieval
