Customer access information technology offers greatpotential benefits to both the organization and itscustomers. However, managers lack methods forevaluating these technologies and determining whetherconditions exist for success. We propose a model fromMarketing Science which captures factors influencing thesuccess of a CAIT. The factors include value platformfeatures - features of the CAIT, and location strategyfeatures - features of the environment into which theCAIT is deployed. This model is applied to homebanking, providing insights as to types of systems mostlikely to be successful.
