Abstract
This study reviews 57 MIS articles employing statistical inference testingpublished in leading MIS journals over the last five years. The statistical powerof the articles was evaluated and found on average to fall substantially below theaccepted norms. The consequence of low power is that it can lead tomisinterpretation of data and results. Collectively these misinterpretations resultin a body of MIS research that is built on potentially erroneous conclusions.
