Abstract

Quack plays an important role in the health sector of India, especially in the rural areas. But till now, there is no reliable estimate of the number of Quack in India and the extent of their services. Mostly Quack are found in the rural areas, where they are the first source of medical care for the rural poor. The present study reveals that the preference for Quack is more or less income specific and age specific, and moreover, in spite of the low cost of treatment under Quack, effectiveness cannot be assured as in allopathy.
