During the past decade, there has been an increasing use of qualitative research in organisations. Due to the subjective nature of this method of research, it can be argued that quantitative research provides better findings. However, qualitative research can be used to explore several areas such as human behaviour which cannot be quantified but yet important to an organisation. Our study aims at providing a justification for the increasing use of this so called soft science using the different tools, techniques and theories of qualitative research. Furthermore, evidence will be provided on the fact that quantitative and qualitative analysis are complementary and it is therefore important that organisations lay equal emphasis on both.
