Abstract

The Bluebook is widely reviled. Many students and lawyers hate and fear it -- as do many librarians who are asked to help students and lawyers with it. This essay explores the strong emotional reactions to the Bluebook and suggests ways that librarians can help patrons use this dreaded code of citation rules.

Keywords: Bluebook, citation, legal citation, reference
