Abstract

Professor Barkan argues that legal research should be included on the bar exam. Doing so would measure aspects of legal education and lawyer competency that are not otherwise assessed and would create incentives for law schools to pay more attention to legal research. Ultimately, it would lead to better legal research.

Keywords: legal research, bar exam, lawyer competency
