Abstract

In this brief response to Richard A. Danner's "Skating with Donovan: Thoughts on Librarianship as a Profession," the author finds new reasons to doubt the merits of a "weak" model of librarianship that overemphasizes user demands at the expense of professional ethical commitments to collect, organize, and preserve.

This is a preprint of an article submitted for consideration in the Legal Reference Services Quarterly, 2009 Taylor & Francis; Legal Reference Services Quarterly is available online. An electronic version of the published article in 27 Legal Reference Services Quarterly 255 (2008) is available to LRSQ online subscribers.
