Abstract
The World Investment Report 2003 presents the outcome of comprehensive research in the field of foreign direct investment (FDI), with a particular focus on developing countries. One of the innovative topics addressed in the Report relates to the inter-relationships between investment and trade agreements. The various links between these spheres are briefly discussed in several parts of the Report, although not in a systematic manner. The importance of the nexus between FDI and trade is increasingly evident in modern international economic relations. Recent trends in the international economy blur the distinction between these spheres and challenge scholars and policy makers.
